Idle & Stationary Time Alerts
Whether it’s your vehicle chilling at a red light… or just your driver discovering the best roadside hotdog spot—ShadowGPS has a way to keep you informed.
The Idle & Stationary Time Alerts help you detect when your vehicle’s just sitting around doing absolutely nothing (which, let's be honest, might be costing you fuel or time).
There are three alert types, based on the kind of device you’re using:
1. Idle Event (ShadowAuto OBD devices only)
What it does: Triggers an alert when your vehicle is idle for longer than the threshold you set—at any single point in the trip.
How to use it: Toggle it on, then use the slider to choose your idle time limit (say, 5 minutes). If your engine's running but your wheels aren’t turning, you’ll hear about it.
2. Idle Total (ShadowAuto OBD devices only)
What it does: This one looks at the total idle time for the entire trip. If your vehicle spent more time sitting than driving (ahem… traffic), this alert sums it up in your trip summary.
When it's triggered: At the end of the trip—inside your trip summary notification.
Use case: Great for delivery fleets, fuel-conscious drivers, or those monitoring productivity on the road.
3. Stationary Time (ShadowTrack Non-OBD devices)
What it does: Just like the Idle Event alert—but for ShadowTrack (Non-OBD) devices.
How it works: If your device detects that your vehicle has been stationary (not moving) for more than your set threshold, you get an alert.
Pro tip: This doesn’t care whether the engine's running—if you’re not moving, it notices.
Why Set These Alerts?
Save fuel by monitoring excessive idling.
Improve fleet efficiency or driver behavior.
Keep tabs on delivery delays or long stops.
Because every minute counts, and ShadowGPS is here to make sure none of them go unnoticed, especially the ones where your vehicle’s just sitting there pretending to be a park bench.
