Your trip, your map, your rules.
Trip Timeline isn’t just about what your vehicle did—it’s about how you see it. That’s where Map Layers and Map Filters come in. Whether you prefer a clean road view or want all the data bells and whistles, ShadowGPS lets you tailor the map exactly how you like it.
Let’s break it down.
Map Layers: Pick Your Perspective
Tap the map layer icon in the top corner of your map to choose how the world looks beneath your vehicle.
You’ve got three views to pick from:
Road View: Clean, classic, and ideal for everyday tracking.
Satellite View: See real-world terrain and landmarks—great for rural areas or pinpointing unusual spots.
Hybrid View: A satellite map with road names and labels on top. It’s the best of both worlds.
Whichever you choose, it doesn’t change your data—just how you see it.
Map Filters: Control the Data Overlays
Now let’s talk about filters—the real MVP for anyone who wants clarity without clutter.
Tap the filter icon to see the list of toggles. Here’s what you can fine-tune:
Speed Legend: Toggle this on to see color-coded speeds across your route. It's especially helpful if you want to identify where driving got a little... spirited.
Geofences: Turn this on to show the geofence areas you’ve created—so you’ll know exactly when your vehicle entered or exited any predefined zone.
Trip Events: Want all the nitty-gritty like hard braking or harsh turns? Keep this on. Want a cleaner map with just trip start and end? Toggle it off. Your call.
Phone Location: See your own live location on the map, not just your vehicle’s. Super useful when you’re trying to catch up with your car in a large parking lot or on foot.
Vehicle Carver(s): Toggle to show or hide icons for your selected vehicles, useful when tracking multiple cars.
Trip Score: Turn this on to see how each trip fared in terms of safety, idling, speeding, and more—summed up in one easy-to-read score.
Why it matters
Map Layers and Filters let you zero in on what matters most to you—whether that's speed data, geofence crossings, or just knowing where your car parked yesterday. And because it’s all configurable, you’re in the driver’s seat (even if your car’s already 10 miles away).
