Step 1: Enter the IMEI

To begin, you’ll need to submit your device’s IMEI number. You can either:

  • Scan it using your phone’s camera

  • Or enter it manually

Once submitted, the app will automatically detect your device type. Since you're using ShadowAuto (OBD), the next step involves entering your vehicle's VIN.

Step 2: Add Your Vehicle Details via VIN

You’ll be prompted to enter your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number).

  • The app will try to fetch your vehicle’s make, model, and year based on the VIN.

  • If some of this information can’t be pulled automatically, you’ll be able to enter or update it manually.

Already have a vehicle linked to your account?
Use the "Select from Saved" option to skip VIN entry and use the saved vehicle details.

Step 3: Customize Your Vehicle Profile

Once your VIN is submitted—or you’ve selected a saved vehicle—you’ll be guided to personalize your vehicle profile.

  • Choose an icon or image to represent your vehicle in the app

  • Enter the current odometer reading

  • Add your license plate number

These details help deliver more accurate trip data and diagnostics.

Step 4: Choose Your Subscription

Next, you’ll be taken to the Subscription Setup screen.

  • If you used the "Select from Saved" option, you’ll directly reach this step.

  • Choose a subscription plan and add your payment method.

If your ShadowAuto device came with a preloaded plan or free trial, your card won’t be charged immediately.
Charges will apply only after the prepaid or trial period ends.
If not, billing will start as soon as the subscription is confirmed.

Step 5: Set Your Preferences

After setting up your plan, you’ll arrive at the Preferences screen.

Here, you can:

  • Configure themes

  • select your units

Final Step: Plug In & Drive

Now it's time to go live!

  • Plug your ShadowAuto (OBD) device into your car’s OBD-II port

  • Drive for 10–15 minutes

Your device will start syncing and sending real-time vehicle data to your app as you drive.
